"I have nothing negative to say about l'Ecole Française de Bristol. From the moment I walked in I knew I had to send my daughter there.
The atmosphere is extremely warm and the staff incredibly welcoming to both pupils and parents alike. When you step inside you would think your were in a French village school and this feeling is reinforced at the frequent fêtes which the school puts on whereby, depending on the occasion, parents are invited to help with concerts, fancy dress, games etc. and in the preparation of delicious French delicacies. This encourages true community spirit and enables parents to get to know each other, the other children and the staff better.
My daughter, coming from a non French speaking background, was apprehensive for her first weeks at the school but Monique and Marjorie gave her a lot of their individual time to make her feel at ease and she is now extremely exuberant about "French School".
I could not believe that after only 10 weeks she was rattling off French nursery rhymes in a perfect accent (and much to my envy can say "vous" with not a trace of English accent).
The other big pluses are the small class size, the structured learning which comes from the French curriculum and the magnificent garden and outside space. Moreover, the whole set up fits in with my working day with both early morning and after school care provided."

"Since my son started maternelle in September, he has made significant progress - not just in his French which is now fluent - but also spelling, counting, drawing and painting - and all other areas.
The school is very welcoming to parents and children. The teachers are outstanding - caring, interested, enthusiastic and very professional. The atmosphere is stimulating, caring and sociable.
The school is everything we hoped it would be - and so much more."

"It only took one day. My daughter was raised bilingually from birth but being full time in an English speaking nursery, she had a growing tendency to speak to me in English. We went to France regularly, met up with other French speaking families, had the books, the videos. Still it was not enough.
When she was 3, she started at the "Maternelle". Collecting her after her first day at the French School I was delighted to hear her speak to me in French in the most natural manner with a fluency I did not know she had. That was it, things had fallen into place.
The French school has helped with improving her French language skills but also very importantly helped her recognize French as a living language, not just a language she only shares with her mother. I also feel that it helps her to understand and appreciate her multicultural background. She is not alone. she has friends who are bilingual just like her.
The French school plays a vital role in the bilingual education of my daughter."

The day release classes [Primary level] have enabled our children to continue speaking French and to develop their reading / written skills in the language. It has been a fantastic support to our efforts to bring them up bilingual. They have also made new friends outside of their normal environment and realised that they are not alone in speaking two languages at home! (thanks!)"

French School has benefited my son enormously: It has underpinned his conversational French at home, with written French disciplines. It has opened up another culture to his. It has helped us ensure his French is such that he can communicate fluently and confidently with French speaking family and friends, and on holiday in France. It has provided a stimulating "refreshment" to his 4 days a week at English School. It has given him a circle of friends."
